Careers in the Military

Tom Reed Armed Forces Career Center

Tom Reed, co-founder of Phase 4 Learning Center, Inc., was born in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania on April 16, 1938.  From the time he was a child, Tom championed children and those less fortunate than himself, defending those who were targets of bullies and abuse.  Tom graduated from high school as president of his class and captain of his football team.  He attended Findlay College and was offered to play professional football; however, he chose to enter the workforce.

In 2003, Tom Reed along with his wife, Terrie, founded Phase 4. They – and their colleagues - have continued with this life-long calling to help youth, adults and family members complete their high school education and establish a strong career pathway that can lead to a fulfilling life.

In 2005, Tom met Colonel Robert P. Wade, Commander of the Pittsburgh Recruiting Battalion. Their professional and personal relationship led to establishing a strong partnership with the U.S. Army, the Department of Defense, and ultimately with all branches of the U.S. Military.  Noteworthy events, opportunities and recognitions of remarkable military Enlistees and Veterans followed -- and continue to this day.

Being a proud supporter of our country and the U.S. Military, it was Tom’s vision to establish an Armed Forces Career Center for all branches of the military to use and for people to explore different career pathways through serving our country.

Tom’s commitment to our country’s youth -- along with his formidable support of our troops -- is represented in the photos and names displayed and the testimonies of all those who he helped to enlist to serve our country.

Tom’s legacy lives on through Phase 4 and through the Tom Reed Armed Forces Career Center, dedicated in his name.

The Tom Reed Armed Forces Career Center is designed for the 7 branches of the military (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force and National Guard) to work with potential recruits preparing them for a career in the Armed Forces.  Recruits will go through ASVAB testing, using March2Success and career exploration to find the most suitable position to serve.

March2Success prepares students for state standardized testing, the SAT and ACT exams, as well as the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).

March2Success was created for the United States Army as a free, public-service oriented resource for students, educators, parents, and mentors everywhere to assist all with higher levels of achievement and overall success when preparing for and taking standardized exams.
